Forum Title: TANG in Carpet
I am in desperate need of finding a way to get out an orange stain in my carpet from spilled TANG drink mix. I've tried Resolve and a shampooer Kirby attachment, but they have worked. I have an apartment inspection in two weeks and have to have them out, or I'll be out. Please help. Jim

hi you need to follow the following steps to remove the tang(stain) from your carpet:-Scrape off excess orange. Mix one tablespoon of liquid hand dishwashing detergent with two cups of warm water. Using a clean white cloth, sponge the stain with the detergent solution. Blot until the liquid is absorbed. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 until the stain disappears or is no longer absorbed into the cloth. If the stain remains, mix one tablespoon of ammonia (Caution: Never mix chlorine bleach and ammonia - the resulting fumes are hazardous) with two cups of warm water. Sponge the stain with the ammonia solution. Blot until the liquid is absorbed. Sponge with cold water and blot dry. Hope this will help you! thanks

Here are a few things to keep in mind before cleaning the carpet:Always use cold water. Never use detergent as this will leave a residue causing it to attract dirt in the future. Always dab carpet when spot cleaning so the carpet fibers do not fray. Below we have listed two different methods for you to try:Hydrogen Peroxide Method: First rinse the stained area with cold water to get rid of the sugar residue left behind from the Tang.Important. Do not scrub the carpet fibers trying to remove the stain. Dab with a clean, light colored cloth. Pour medicinal strength hydrogen peroxide; straight from the bottle (you can purchase this in your local grocery store), don't saturate the area but make sure the fibers are wet. Message the hydrogen peroxide in with your fingers. Cover the area with plastic wrap then cover with a towel. Hydrogen peroxide turns to water if exposed to light which is why you cover it with the towel. After about an hour take a dry towel and dab the stained area to remove any excess liquid. Regards,
